day.211 - otter creek
We visited a local winery in Johnstown for Frank's birthday.
The Winery at Otter Creek is a great winery tucked away in the countryside.
They have a tasting room, a grand piano and a large covered patio
(hence the shot of the colorful canopy)

day.199 - turn my headphones up
Today's JCC assignment: what's that sound?
Never can tell what you'll hear when entering the graphics department.

day.198 - mothman
Today's JCC assignment: black & white
This giant moth was hanging out in our backporch.
Glad today's was black & white, because it's the only setting
I could use to (kind of) capture his markings.

day.197 - eggwhite&shrooms
Today's JCC assignment: breakfast
This is a breakfast staple for me: baby bella mushrooms,
egg whites and cheese on a toasted english muffin.

day.196 - natural canopy
Today's JCC assignment: look up
This is what I see when I look up in my backyard.
Ain't it pretty?! ;)

Our tomatoes are starting to come in!

day.190 - alternative perspective
Today's JCC assignment: alternative perspective
So that's what it looks like from the other side of the camera...
I really like the way my reflection came out in this.

day.189 - from a distance
Today's JCC assignment: from a distance
From a distance, those storm clouds look very ominous.

day.188 - ABSOLUT sparkle
Today's JCC assignment: sparkle

day.187 - 30 steps away
Today's assignment in "July's Creativity Challenge(JCC)" -
30 steps away
...from the second floor of Barnes & Noble.
There really are 30 steps in the escalator!

day.186 - japanese beetle
This little beetle was having a feast on one of the hasta leaves this evening.
I kindly escorted it off of the plant...

day.185 - "all i see is fireworks"
To top off our busy Fourth of July weekend, we caught
a great fireworks show at the Freedom Festival in Gahanna.

day.184 - lake erie water snake
On a day-cation at Kelley's Island, we were lounging on
the "beach" when this Lake Erie water snake swam up
on
shore
with a big fish in its mouth. I couldn't believe it!

day.183 - spike
Not sure what this little guy is, but it caught my eye right away.

day.182 - zucchini e pomodori gratinati
We had a giant zucchini that grew in the garden, so I looked up some recipes
to use it in. I found this one which called for fresh mozzarella, tomato and garlic.
I even seasoned it with fresh, chopped basil from my herb garden :)
day.181 - back to life
This geranium was a wedding center piece from our friends' wedding, over a year ago.
We were certain we had killed it, but with plenty of watering and sunlight,
it has come back to life and is now blooming.
day.180 - lucky red
We visited the Chinese restaurant in Johnstown for dinner.
Frank was weighing the pros and cons for a big career decision,
I thought this red Chinese decor was fitting, since red is seen as
a symbol of
integrity
in Chinese culture.
day.179 - daddy long fangs
This daddy long legs was showing his fangs tonight.
I've never seen one these do that. Crazy!
(Check out the original size of this, you'll see them better.)
day.178 - lovely daisy
The saying goes, Stop and smell the roses...
well, I stopped and smelled the daisies in our garden
before leaving for work this morning.
day.177 - italian accent
We finished painting the kitchen, and my husband got his accent wall.
When I told my uncle that we were going to have one,
he joked that it must be an Italian accent
(
since my hubby is Italian..
)
Anyway, I like this spot in the kitchen because of how the light hits the walls.
From different angles, the walls look like different colors – cool optical illusion!
day.176 - sea of glasses
We painted the kitchen this weekend and had to move everything out,
including our buffet, which houses all our wine and martini glasses.
The only safe place to move them was the master bedroom. Both our dressers are
covered with them...
perhaps I should keep a bottle of vodka in the nightstand... ;)
day.175 - groovy feathers
This duck pen stands on the shelf of my desk; I got him for my birthday this year.
He's got a pimp hat and feather hair. He's pretty groovy :)
day.174 - mirror images
This isn't a very artsy picture today, but I found it kinda funny.
Vita and Vinny are sitting almost identical, their tongues hanging out,
except for their back legs.
day.173 - layers of sky
One of things I love most about my home is/are the views.
The sky was particularly colorful today.
day.172 - blue beta
The newest resident of the office, this blue beta has yet to be named.
I liked this shot since he's lined up with the inside of the fish statue's mouth :)
