day.26 - paper spirals

 

This is an anniversary gift from my aunt.

It's a home décor container covered in paper spirals.

Very fitting for a one-year anniversary :)

day.25 - "those icicles have been known to kill people!"

I snagged this as I got home from work.

These icicles are chillin' at the corner of the roof over the front porch.

(Ha! chillin', get it?)

day.24 - ...and man created fire

The view looking into our wood-burning furnace.

We woke up to a brisk 61 degrees in the house – 

apparently the gas furnace went out overnight!

day.23 - a silver lining on a cold winter's day

The winter may bring snow, ice and bitter cold upon us,

but it also brings out a new kind of beauty.

day.22 - happy first birthday, trey!

We went to our friends' son's birthday party.

Their house was decked out in Mickey Mouse décor,

including this giant balloon bouquet.

day.21 - day & night

This particular morning, the sun was awakening in the eastern sky

while the moon was still hanging in the west.

Today was Lisa's birthday and I was on latte duty.

The drive-thru was excessively long, so I decided to go in 

and while I waited, I saw these flavored coffee toppings.

day.18 - blue fog

 

Driving home in the foggy rain was not fun, and when I got there,

my house was enveloped in blue fog. Kind of serene, kind of eerie.

An ode to my love of mushrooms. These are baby portabello.

I supported the U.S.A. and got the steel drink tubs I've always envisioned.

I made this from a pine cone branch & stones we collected on our vacation to

Traverse City, including the stones with my initials in them - pretty cool!

day.13 - goggles, goggles, goggles!

In preparation of skiing this weekend, 

we went to Aspen Ski & Board for our ski gear.

Look - on the counter! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a....rhino butter dish?

day.11 - snowy steps

The accumulation of snow on our front porch steps, 

after an entire day of snowing. It could be worse.

I scavenged the supply closet and found this old plastic mail tray

to put my MacMini up on at work. Cool arches, eh?

day.9 - dog days

This is more than a cute picture of our puppy Vinni.

It's also the first time I went skiing.

day.8 - ring of beer

We left the remaining beer from our party in the metal drink tub outside.

The ice/water mix froze to the beer and out popped a "ring o' beer".

(No, the photo is not turned the wrong way; I took this of the ice ring on its side.)

day.7 - popcorn cake

I experienced popcorn cake for the first time.

Frank's mom used to make it for him as a kid.

day.6 - up on the rooftop...

A few of us at work decided to take a trip upstairs, to the roof.

I was leaving for work, and saw this from the end of the driveway.

A bit blurry, but still pretty.

I took this picture from inside my car and didn't use a flash.

The sun hit the windshield just right.

The time on the clock is 5:04 p.m. Week two of my new schedule, 

Monday was the first day I actually left on time. Surreal moment for me.

This small wind chime hangs in our screened back porch.

And was left by the previous owners. But I don't mind. I kinda like it.

On New Year's Day, Frank and I went to Schmitz's Sausage Haus with our friends Ryan and Staci.

This is what I got for dessert. Delicious.
