day.361 - winter 'wonder'shield

Cold winds, snow flakes, and icicles – oh my.
The light of the lampost really shows off the tiny details
of the icy snowflakes on my windshield.

day.358 - holiday treats

Yummy holiday treats were abundant at my family's Christmas Eve get-together.
Always good food, even better people!

day.356 - warm glow

Literally the last thing I saw before bed. I like the glow of this shot.
And no, I didn't touch this up ;)

day.354 - second birthday

It was baby takeover at my nephew's birthday party.
I took this sitting at the table – interesting how cutie Rowan is in focus
and the mommas are blurry.

day.345 - first birthday

My nephew really wanted his new dino ride,
they kept pulling it away to keep him stepping towards it :)

day.342 - periwinkle sunrise

A soft sunrise to greet me in the morning,
I just love the skies around me out in the country.

day.337 - majestic mountains

On the drive back from Norfolk, we stopped at this site off the highway.
Maybe this is where part of that 'purple mountains majesty' came from... eh?

day.330 - rainy night lights

Rain makes for an interesting element to shoot in,
I shot this one from the car as we headed to dinner.

day.323 - faith donation

We donated two of my brothers framed, faith-based posters to our church's
youth group, along with a photo and this caption. He was very involved in the group
when he was in high school. I know he would've liked our decision :)

day.319 - melty pumpkin

The Graphics superheros love this little pumpkin.
It looks like it's melting...either that, or it's growing tentacles. ;)

day.318 - iLove

My new iMac at work (minus the fingerprints, of course) ..... <3

day.312 - porch, complete

After two months of being under construction,
the back porch / patio project is complete.

Here's a before shot, just for comparison :)

day.302 - Cork Jazz Festival

After the Blarney Stone and Castle, we headed to the city of Cork
for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. I noticed this humorous graffiti
and took the shot. Quite a nice composition, if I may say so myself!

day.301 - Conner's Pass

On our tour of the Dingle Peninsula, we drove through Conner's Pass
in the mountains. We decided to stop at various pull-offs and this one in
particular, was spectacular. We scaled the rocky mountainside and to our surprise,
discovered this natural lake at a plateau about a third of the way up.

day.300 - Cahir Castle

We toured the Cahir Castle, the most well-preserved castle in Ireland.
As we explored, Laura noticed this intriguing skyline of castle and local real estate.
Great idea Laura!

day.298 - Adare river walk

After dinner at Sean Collins Pub, we took a stroll along the river
in Adare. I took several shots along the walk, but this one is
my favorite with the mirrored reflections in the water.

day.297 - the Guinness lounge

After a traditional Irish breakfast, we toured the Guinness Storehouse
where we learned how to pour a perfect pint of Guinness. We enjoyed
our pints in the lounge overlooking the city.

day.296 - jet lag in Dublin

We arrived in Dublin early Monday morning (5 hrs ahead of the states)
and navigated our rental car – on the opposite side of the road and
fighting jet lag (yikes!) – to Zack's cousin's home.
Who knew roundabouts could be so difficult?!

Saturday, October 22, 2011

day.295 - rebuilding WTC

We visited the site of the new World Trade Center towers
and saw the Occupy Wall Street protesters in the park. Very surreal.

day.294 - tribeca, ny

Before catching our flight to Ireland, we stayed with my cousin and her fiancé
for a couple of days in New York City. This is the amazing view from their balcony.

day.289 - inside a child's mind

We went to our nephew's tackle football game Sunday.
The whole family came out to support Jack, including his little brother Michael.
I wonder what he's pondering? Perhaps, who has the M&Ms? :)

day.286 - hard day's night

Lots of overtime at work this week, so my usual 5 o'clock departure
was surpassed by the night. I never really noticed the street lights near
the Delaware library – I love how the details of the iron are highlighted :)

day.283 - spotted clouds

Shot this beauty while driving between two corn fields in the country.
Couldn't help myself – those broken-up clouds were a sight to see!

day.281 - it's fall baby

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. And the leaves are finally starting to turn!

Friday, October 7, 2011

day.280 - house of the rising sun

I never get tired of the morning sunrises,
especially when they are as pretty as this one.

Thursday, October 6, 2011

day.279 - patience, young grasshoppa

This leaf-shaped grasshopper was "hanging out" upside down
on the ceiling of our front porch. Since moving out to the country,
I'm pretty sure I see a new type of insect every few days!

day.278 - spicy! spicy!

It was a nice day for the Farmer's Market in Delaware. I picked up a
spaghetti squash, iced pumpkin cookies, and these bold-red, cayenne peppers.

day.276 – welcome yuengling

Oh my, I am pumped about Yuengling being available in Ohio.
Today was the official release and I just had to enjoy some.
There was a giant display at Meijer and plenty of cold 6-packs :)

day.275 - fall family

The whole family met in Delaware to take family pictures.
The sun was shining – a welcome break from the rain – and
looked pretty against the newly-turned fall leaves.

day.272 - heels & hopes

For the second year in a row, I attended High Heels & High Hopes,
benefit for Women's Health at Grady Memorial Hospital. Although I was on
official newspaper photographer business, I got my pic-o-the-day in with
this beautiful chandelier that was above our table.

day.267 - only the good die young

Two years ago, my brother passed away suddenly. He was 28.
Me, my husband, and Tim (my brother's best friend) visited his sight in Springfield.
My dad is buried next to him. Mom picked this area in the cemetery for
the large trees and hills. I like to think that 'our guys' enjoy the view.

some catching up to do...

You may have noticed the gap in my 365 project.

I've been busy, but I've also been lacking motivation for the project. But it's back now.
And I plan to start posting daily again; I'll also be posting from days past that I missed.

Stay tuned :)

day.254 - its a toad!

A toad was wading in the puddle at the end of the driveway drain pipe.
The raindrops hit the water in such a way that the water surrounding
the frog is almost out-of-focus, but the frog itself is very clear.
I really like the contrast of this!

day.251 - highland beauties

I drive by this pasture everyday on my way to work and I'm forever gazing at these long-haired cattle. Because of the busy intersection, I can't pull over to the side,
but tonight is was raining. Not a lot of traffic. I put on my flashers
and got this cool shot with one looking at the camera.

day.216 - cute-as-a-button cupcakes

We love to celebrate birthdays at work and today, we enjoyed
some delicious homemade cupcakes that were almost too pretty to eat.

Saturday, July 30, 2011

day.211 - otter creek

We visited a local winery in Johnstown for Frank's birthday.
The Winery at Otter Creek is a great winery tucked away in the countryside.
They have a tasting room, a grand piano and a large covered patio
(hence the shot of the colorful canopy)

day.199 - turn my headphones up

Today's JCC assignment: what's that sound?

Never can tell what you'll hear when entering the graphics department.

Sunday, July 17, 2011

day.198 - mothman

Today's JCC assignment: black & white

This giant moth was hanging out in our backporch.
Glad today's was black & white, because it's the only setting
I could use to (kind of) capture his markings.

Saturday, July 16, 2011

day.197 - eggwhite&shrooms

Today's JCC assignment: breakfast

This is a breakfast staple for me: baby bella mushrooms,
egg whites and cheese on a toasted english muffin.

Friday, July 15, 2011

day.196 - natural canopy

Today's JCC assignment: look up

This is what I see when I look up in my backyard.
Ain't it pretty?! ;)

day.190 - alternative perspective

Today's JCC assignment: alternative perspective

So that's what it looks like from the other side of the camera...
I really like the way my reflection came out in this.

day.189 - from a distance

Today's JCC assignment: from a distance

From a distance, those storm clouds look very ominous.
